Movie reviews
Dan Jones has made two films (“Dan Jones’ Career is Over” and “Human Achievement“) and is in postproduction of “Griffey’s Theory.” He has also written the novel “Crystal and Her Family.”
In my columns, I’ll be reviewing classic to modern classics and the anticipated blockbusters of yesterday or two months ago.

Crystal and Her Family

Simon’s adolescent son, Sean, is growing tired of his childhood friends and searching for adventure, even trouble. He finds it in an unsettling discovery, leading to a morbid obsession. Little does he know what he has uncovered is a direct result of his father’s bizarre behavior.

Suspenseful Page-Turner , 06/27/2006
Reviewer: Jane D.
I recently read Crystal and Her Family in just two days. Every time I started a new chapter, I would find myself saying, “I’m going to stop after I finish this chapter,” but I couldn’t stop reading. I had to find out what was going to happen next. I don’t want to give away any plot twists, but I found the book kept elevating to the next level of suspense. The tension kept building as the story went on, making it difficult to stop reading at ANY point. Not only is the story unrelenting, but it also makes the reader feel uncomfortable being in the main character’s mind. It challanges the reader’s own emotions and morals by examining an avid adulterer’s actions and explicit sexual experiences. This is a fiction thriller at its best. Do not miss this one!

Twists & Turns! , 10/26/2007
Reviewer: Ronee E.
This book is awesome. I have to say that I read a lot but get bored very easily. Many books don’t keep my attention due to the poor writing and no-thrill factor. This suspenseful book kept me reading chapters at a time. I would easily recommend it to others looking for a book that has great writing, as well as twists and turns to keep you in suspense and shock! At times, it is really weird to know what Simon is thinking. Makes me wonder what people are really walking around thinking! Enjoy this book and pass on to others

Thrilling, Page Turning Psychological Thriller , 12/02/2008
Reviewer: Cheryl
Crystal and her Family will make readers hearts pound in their chest. It is a page turning suspenseful, bone-chilling story. Jones has an amazing talent at getting into his characters minds and sharing their deep, personal thoughts and the complexity of their emotions. It is a brilliantly written & entertaining story. Out of curiosity of local talent, I picked up a copy of this book at a street fair in the authors home town. Once I finally started reading it, I had a hard time putting it down. Jones is an extremely talented young writer who is sure to go far in his career. I am looking forward to future books!
Human Achievement
Tagg is a cynical man, who has made a conscious decision to have no goals. Preaching his vague theories and unusual opinions to complete strangers gets him no results and leaves him bitter. Struggling to find the answer to his deep-seated pessisism is a losing battle. His self-created hypocrocies force him into a deep state of rage and loneliness.
Three years earlier, he was an easy-going optimist with high goals for success. This young, energetic Tagg tested the boundaries of human effort until he came upon a series of unfortunate events. Interweaving Tagg’s past and present stories will enleash the significant evil which transformed him, bit by bit. How is he going to come to terms with who he has become, and at what price?
