Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (by Patrick Suskind)
BRIEF BLURB:
Perfectly strange.
EVALUATION:
The odd and extravagant story, along with eloquent narration, may stay with the viewer and bring one to find the book on which it is based. (That’s what happened to me.)
FILM:
Directed by Tom Tykwer (“Run, Lola, Run”).
WHICH IS BETTER?
The book. If I had read it first, I would have thought, “They could never pull this off.” And so, they came close, they intrigued; but some fantastical literature is stronger in the mind’s eye and not the camera’s.
