The Bad Seed

The Bad Seed (by William March)

BRIEF BLURB:
Freud meets “The Omen.”

EVALUATION:
The complexities of a troubled child are never simple.

FILM:
Adapted from the novel and play. Perfect example of “less is more.”

WHICH IS BETTER?
The book. Many today would use the word “contrived” to describe the film, but that’s because others misunderstand the meaning. The story hardly leaves two locations: the mother’s mind and their home. These are, however, the two most important places for a mother to question security. March’s novel burrows further into the genetics of sociopaths, that’s all.
